C Joey Barrera
Basic Background:
Everyone should know the basic concept of how our Rule 5 draft worked out.
Specific Details:
In Krem's post he indicated that we were to PM him by a certain time (9:00 I believe) to get the info in, as to who we would pick.
Other info:
1) I imm'd Krem @ 8:45, and asked if C Joey Barrera was pulled back yet. He looked and said no. I indicated that I shoudl have one of the top two picks (I believe Arizona and I had tied for wrost record or something...). I told him if he wasn't pulled back I wanted him.
2) Krem thought I was Colorado (as we have similar AIM names) and was just confirming what Colorado had PM'd to him...
Outcome:
Colorado got the catcher and I ended up with no one.
----------
Obviously this is unacceptable to me. As those of you who know me in the league, I am hardly ever on, on the weekend. I went out of my way to get internet service and got my pick to the man doing the draft before the deadline.
Since then I have bent over backwards trying to come up with some sort of package to get Colorado something for his trouble...
Now I am fed up with the situation.
I had the first pick, I wanted him... end of story.
-------
Note: Krem told me to put it to the league, so I have.

No surprise that I am supporting Seattle...
But in all honesty, he doesn't have internet at his place and did brave going over to his girlfriend's apt to use her net. (This was after blowing her off all weekend to watch football...) So just for that you should give him the guy.
He also has basically bribed me to give up C John Estrada to Colorado, which apparently was unacceptable.

If he said to PM him, and you didn't PM him, that's your fault.
If you didn't identify yourself as Seattle in your IM, that's your fault.
Colorado should get the player.

If he told people on the board, days before the draft, that they had to send a PM, then you should have sent a PM. Colorado presumably sent a PM. You didn't. They get the player.

In my opinion the Rule 5 draft was a disaster... it didn't matter to me b/c I didn't want anyone. But for someone who complains about the weekend betting stuff ... you are being close minded. The final list was put up sometime late Friday night. For those of us who do not check the board btw Friday @ 5:00 and Monday @ 9:00 we were SOL. I believe it also said on that list that the list of people would be final on friday, but Krem allowed people to pull back players right up until the draft. You can't bend the rules on one thing and then say... uhh HE HAD TO PM. That is retarded. GMs were allowed to move players later, why shouldn't he be allowed to make his pick by Aim? And if that is the case then he can't then Krem should have told him. Either way he had the top pick. I don't see why there is any conversation here. Give him his player and move on.

Ah, I didn't realize it had taken place over the weekend. I was like you, and didn't pay much attention because I didn't want anyone.

Yes and several players only check in during the week (like me), but he went out of his way to get his pick in and was told it was okay. (And now he seems more than a little annoyed)

I agree with Seattle. The main beef here sounds like that he PMed him the pick instead of IMed the pick. Or whatever. There have been times in this league where people didnt follow the rules to the letter of the law and it was deemed ok.
The problem i see is, we are dealing with 2 teams here, if we give a player to seattle, what happens to colorado?
Did colorado want someone else in the draft, if they did, did someone behind him get someone he wanted, etc? Did they release someone else to keep this player on their roster?
as far as i am concerned as long as this can be corrected without it leading to a domino effect of players having to put placed in other places im all for it.
The biggest beef i have with all of this is, we are now 2 sims into the season and this is being brought the attention of the league now. This is even after we missed a day due to the sim, seems like if this was a HUGE problem this should have been addressed a lot earlier than this

Seattle had been working on this daily with Krem. The two of them came up with a couple of plans that required minimal movement. The reason I know a fair deal about all of this is because (as most people know) I work with Seattle & I was going to help everyone out. I was going to basically give away C John Estrada to Colorado so he would get a catcher and then he could give Seattle his guy. Apparently there was a problem with this. There were also some other proposed deals I believe involving (now computer run) Arizona's pick and maybe more. They had been working on it and I guess Colorado was unwilling to bend. I don't think Seattle will be here to fill in any more details, but perhaps Krem could fill in or correct anything I have said.

Colorado has not gotten back to me fully.. I did not even offe rhim Estrada because if I were him I'd lift up my middle finger to that.. Lets just handle it.. I messe dup and so did Seattle.. but the ROckies did everythign CORRECT (PM, etc).. so I want to treat him fairly as well as Seattle.. The catcher sucks anyways.. jk

This is the first I've heard of this until just reading this thread and seeing the poll.
